History always centers upon the lives of the enslavers. Our prime goal, however, is to re-center the lives of the Indigenous enslaved. Although their names and represented identities shift across time and documents, we are working to respectfully trace the arc of their lives, from captivity, through enslavement, to their freedom, a state that for some only came with death.
