Planned Giving
Planned gifts offer a meaningful way to ensure that the histories and lives connected to Indigenous slavery continue to be recovered, preserved, and shared for generations to come. Native Bound Unbound welcomes conversations with donors who wish to include this work as part of their long-term legacy. Although our planned giving program is in an early stage, legacy gifts will eventually play an important role in sustaining our research, digital preservation, community engagement, and educational initiatives across the Americas.
Why Legacy Gifts Matter
A planned gift allows donors to make a lasting commitment to the values and work they believe in. For Native Bound Unbound, legacy gifts help ensure:
- the long-term preservation of digital and archival materials
- support for future research and fieldwork
- expanded educational resources for students and teachers
- continued engagement with Indigenous and descendant communities
- the endurance of this hemispheric project for future generations
Planned giving is a gesture of trust, an investment in a project that will transform how the world understands slavery.
Ways to Include NBU in Your Legacy Plans
As this program develops, additional guidance will be provided. For now, donors may consider the following common approaches:
- Bequests through a will or trust
- Beneficiary designations on retirement plans, life insurance policies, or financial accounts
- Gifts of securities or other appreciated assets
- Charitable bequests in honor or memory of loved ones
These options can be discussed confidentially to ensure that your intentions are clearly understood.
Sample bequest language and additional planned giving resources will be added as this program evolves.
